Hi, my name is Rohaan Sindhwani, and I am a business student at Purdue University. As I learn more and gain experience in the world of finance, I want to share my journey and discuss topics I find interesting or valuable. This intro post will explore my reasons for wanting to go into finance and how I plan to use this blog.

Discovering Finance
My true passion and interest for finance and mainly investing came from my father. He has been explaining to me for a while how investing works, and eventually I myself started investing in the stock market. However, I wanted to expand my knowledge on the field and knew I had to take advantage of school.
When I first arrived at Purdue, I knew finance was a broad field, but I wasn’t sure where to start, or where exactly I even wanted to end up. The university offers a variety of courses that cover everything from corporate finance to investment analysis and financial markets. Early on, I realized that understanding the basics of financial statements and market behavior was essential regardless of what I'd want to focus on.
One of the first courses I took was Financial Accounting. This class taught me how to read balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. These documents are the backbone of financial decision-making, whether you are managing a company or investing in stocks. Learning to interpret these statements gave me a clearer picture of how businesses operate financially.

Taking Advantage of my Education
Purdue emphasizes hands-on learning, which helped me apply theory to real-world situations. For example, in an investment management class, we simulated managing a portfolio. This experience taught me how to analyze stocks, diversify investments, and balance risk and return. It was eye-opening to see how market fluctuations affect portfolio value and how important it is to stay informed.
One of the strengths of Purdue’s business program is access to professors with real-world experience. Their insights go beyond textbooks and help connect classroom learning to current financial trends. Guest lectures from industry professionals also provide perspectives on topics like fintech, corporate finance strategies, and economic policy.
Exploring Finance Beyond the Classroom
Finance is not just about numbers; it’s about understanding markets, economies, and human behavior. To deepen my knowledge, I joined the Purdue Financial Management Club. This group organizes workshops, networking events, and competitions that challenge members to solve financial problems creatively.
Financial knowledge is valuable beyond a career in finance. Understanding personal finance, such as budgeting, saving, and investing, is crucial for everyone. I will post on here frequently and would love to hear any feedback from anyone that reads these. My email is rohaansindhwani@gmail.com. I look forward to share my academic and professional journey, and will be showcasing new concepts and ideas related to the finance sector and investing that I learn or find interesting.
